I have a 12 year old Dyson vacuum that has recently stopped working well. Trying to decide if I should attempt to get it serviced or purchase a new vacuum.
It’s been a workhorse, travelled across the county twice, many dogs over the years and four kids now.
What would you do?
AndreaThe batteries only last 4-5 years. Is it a handheld? I would suggest troubleshooting with Dyson to fix.
You can also complain and get the parts cheaper by doing so. “I buy Dyson because of its unparalleled quality” good luck!
You can even bring it into a service center and their pricing is also negotiable.
I fixed a handheld vacuum by replacing the battery. I brought in a hair dryer to the service center.
Both were relatively painless.
JeannieMy sweeper wasn’t working right, I took the brush head off pulled hair out still wasn’t working.
Took it apart again, took a long thin brush up the hose and I was in complete shock by what came out, just an idea.
JaniceReplace it with another Dyson if it isn’t fixable. I would try to have it fixed first.
I love my Dyson.
HollyGo to YouTUBE NOBODY HERE IN lubbock, Tx will work, on they are so reliable…..& easy to fix if you can take the time to do IT!
ShirleyFirst, clear any clogs. That is the usual if you have animals. If that fails it may be worth it to take it to Dyson and have them look at it.
Then you can decide to have it fixed or buy a new one.
Speaking as a retired lady who had her own cleaning business, I own a Shark.
GretchenCheck all the hoses first. My shark was having issues. Turned out to be a crack in a hose. Also make sure all filters are cleaned and beater bar (if present) is clear.
If you can’t figure it out then see what a replacement would cost and get an estimate from a repairman to see if significantly cheaper.
Good luck.
JanetI emailed Dyson customer service one Sunday and described the problem. They got right back to me that day with a diy fix. It worked.
Worth a try.
MarilynI just replaced my Dyson with a rechargeable stick vacum from Amazon. Works great. Suction and brushes.
Love it lightweight and nimble.
I somehow got my Dyson wet a few years ago. And it hasn’t been the same since.
