So I don’t know if I can get any help here. But I’m going to try.
Brought some spice jars. Love them. However, when they shipped them the shaker lids (plastic cover with the holes) was not included..So sad. Amazon told me to keep the product and also refunded on top of that. Very nice. However I can’t find the lids no where.
Any idea what I can do with them or how can I still use them as spice jar?
GloriaI don’t like those shaker lids. Pour out onto my hand then sprinkle
KassandraJust take a pinch and sprinkle! Honestly, it wouldn’t bother me not having the shaker tops.
DuncanI never use the tops, a lot of spices I use are by grams those just get in the way for me
SoniaCheck your current spices and see if their shaker lids work. If so, use those.
BethIf you have a drill and a small drill bit, drill the holes yourself?
JackieTo me not having the shaker tops is a plus. I usually measure spices by pinch, 1/8, 1/4 etc tsp or even a tablespoon.
LisaJust place your spices in them & label. When you use them, use a measuring spoon.
StacyI just use a spoon if I’m not measuring. But I usually measure with my heart
SusanWhen I cook, I don’t even use the shaker. I just se my fingers. It works great.
If it is a spice I do not use often, I use a measuring spoon.
LisaMany recipes will call for a larger amount than what can be extracted with a shake or two.
Not having shaker tops could be a benefit.
AshleyJust use them for your spices that are not fine ground use a measuring spoon for the ground spices.
MikeShaking over a steaming pot clumps your spices anyway… use a small spoon or pour into your hand, so no need for the inserts!!!
JosselynI have these! I think I threw mine out! They just got in the way when measuring
SuzyCan you measure the opening of those jars, maybe we can help you look if we had the measurements?
NatalieYou could take a small piece of aluminum foil & use the tiny hole punch to make tiny holes.
This may be a temporary solution but try to see how it works.
SaritaI almost never use the shaker lids. If I had to sprinkle, I’d just use an 1/8 tsp and sprinkle from that.
AngelaFor a temporary solution, could you stretch a thin piece of foil or plastic wrap and poke small holes?
Secure with a rubber band or tape?
ClaryI don’t understand the problem? Many spices don’t have shaker lids. You just use a measuring spoon or carefully shake some out.
HollyDo you have spices already in your drawers? Find if any of them fit.
Then ask friends and family/your buy nothing group on Facebook to see if anyone will keep theirs for you.
LindaLook on Amazon for mini spice jar spoons.
I don’t measure spices when cooking. Ever have. These little spoons would work fine and come in groups..not just one.
KariI dump it in the cap to “measure,” but rarely measure. You can maybe buy replacement shakers or recycle some from the original containers.
ElizabethI don’t have a solution, but as a side note for others, many shaker lids for Parmesan cheese fit on mason jars.
I use these for dry mixes I have on hand.
