My boyfriend and I are thinking about investing in a sams membership. I had access to one before that was my grandma’s, so I’m kinda familiar with how Sam’s works.
I was wondering if you guys have any tips to utilize the membership as much as possible?
MelanieI have the plus membership and love it. I also have the Sam’s MC which is tied to the membership.
I use it everywhere and get more cash back than the membership costs annually.
I pay the card off monthly so no interest accrues.
You can accumulate your points to save up for a large purchase or use as you get them.
MarshaWe get the plus membership because shipping is then free and we don’t waste gas driving the hour to get there unless we are in there town for other reasons.
We buy all our nuts there, as many pharmaceuticals as we can find that we normally use, paper products etc.
I try to go in with a list in person so I don’t buy things I don’t need.
JannaSplit with a friend. You can only have members of the same
House as a primary and secondary member but shop together and then you save on that. Also, Groupon runs membership deals sometimes.
Always use the coupons.
MistyMy sister and I use the same account. She logs in to my account and just goes in!!
AshleyKnow your prices before you go in. Bulk is not always better so you just have to compare.
We’re a family of 3 and I buy our paper products, ground chuck, some produce, seasonings, clothes, and various other things. We go about once a week.
Some stuff is cheaper (2 loaves of Bimbo bread was $3.20 this last trip.
Dino nuggets for my daughter are cheaper here than Aldi) but some stuff is more like milk.
It’s almost a dollar more a gallon.
DonnaI have a Costco & BJ’s membership. Sounds crazy, but both my husband & wear glasses & he has hearing aids. (hearing aids saved thousands) new glasses saves about $200 / pair.
Otherwise, I don’t think Costco saves us anything.
MiriamI’d definitely get the cheaper option. I don’t feel like the “Plus” membership is worth it, in my opinion.
We love Sam’s because they actually take our credit card and we get points back.
I like to freeze things I buy in bulk so they don’t go bad. The meats, cheese, produce.
If you try something and don’t like it, you can return it!
Busier times=more samples. Less busier times=less samples. They have both order pick up AND scan n’ go, which means you don’t have to wait in the loooong lines like you do at Costco.
I’d prefer Sam’s over Costco, but I think it also depends on your lifestyle.
TracieSo, if you can find someone to split the cost.
Now a regular membership you only get one card. However, I log in using the app because I use the scan and go because they offer more savings and my mom uses the card.
If you get the sams club plus membership. There’s different hours and it offers free shipping. But, that one you get two cards with.
DebbieMy friend has a membership and the savings in gas alone is way more than her membership fee.
JulieKnow your price points and what things you’ll consume before they go bad. We buy a lot of produce: cherries, cuties, strawberries, salad, potatoes etc.
Farlife Protein shakes, rotisserie chicken, bottled water too. Sometimes things are cheaper elsewhere on sale and focus on tried and true favorites versus splurging on something unknown that you might not end up liking.
And go hungry, get a cheap meal at the snack bar.
Hot dog and an icee for $1.38, pretzels or pizzas too..
LaurelI have memberships at Sam’s, Costco and BJ’s. ( I only pay for one.) They are mostly the same but very slightly.
Example:
large bag of stuffed shells at Sam’s but not at Costcos.
BJs has a deli counter but not at the other two.Costco is slightly more upscale then the other 2
ColleenFamily of 5 – we have a plus membership and the $ back rewards MORE than pay for the cost of the membership.
ElizabethI buy alot in bulk, pet food, coffee, paper goods, toiletries. I have the plus membership so I can have alot shipped to my house. There are more options online that aren’t in the stores.
Our family shops Sam’s online more often. The store is great for veggies, fruit, snacks, and baked goods.
If ya’ll eat rottesserie chicken, Sam’s has a great deal.
AnnaI love Sam’s Club their prices per unit are often substantially cheaper than store including Aldi’s.
I am single but still find very good deals that just can’t be beat in regular stores.
SheriI’ll give you an example of savings. 4 boxes of graham crackers is $8 something at Sam’s, at Walmart it’s $4+ a box! Cereal is 2 boxes for $7+ but grocery stores are close to $5 for 1 box.
It goes on but you buy bulk. 48 rolls of Toilet paper is $22 and 15 rolls of paper towels is $16 etc.
AprilDo you have access to a Costco membership? I have a tik tok channel where I compare prices from Walmart and Costco.
Costco is much cheaper for most things if you are buying in bulk.
Aprilmann28 on tik tok. Check it out!
