I’m currently unemployed due to a lay off. This has caused ne to be frugal and do a low spend month. I have nothing but time on my hands.
I have moments of not being positive. So I joined a buy nothing group to give away the things I’m not using. For some reason it made me feel a little better.
Seeing the joy on people’s face from something so small. What are some things that you do or even say to encourage people.
Especially when you are feeling down yourself. I started writing in a gratitude journal that I found at the thrift store.
I like to tell the people if they need anything to let me know and I will ship my home.
NormaHave you tried selling on FB Marketplace? You can make a little dough and it’s a nice distraction.
KathyI, too, would recommend volunteering. Even if it’s for a short time period, nursing homes are so in need of people to push wheelchairs outdoors, do manicures, just sit with people.
Blessings on your new journey!
VeronicaIt’s not to encourage others but just to start my day positively and with gratitude-
Before I get out of bed I say to myself “Today is going to be a great day!” Then I list 3 things that I am grateful for.
CarlaI think those are good mantras to have when life throws some curveballs at you.
LeahWhen you help others, you help yourself. If you have time volunteer doing something that helps and makes you happy. Something like walking dogs at the local pet shelter.
Everyday good deeds such putting a grocery cart away for someone else. Little things add up, just like being frugal saving a little here ae there adds up.
Also you are in charge of you, you get to pick your attitude everyday. Someday are harder, but there is always something to be thankful for.
Something at little as I put on pants, or brushed my teeth today.
JustineWhat I would say to help, is social connection, exercise and getting out in nature. All these are free.
I personally volunteer at a dogs home, I walk the dogs so I benefit from all the above.
In addition I found a local walking group.
This is great for social as we chat while exercing too. Hope this helps.
GinaI hope that you find that your heart is lighter when you give of your time, your talents or your possessions.
You don’t have a job right now, but you have people that are interested in your outcome & that will cheer you on.
You go & we will cheer you on!
JanetWould you like to volunteer at a thrift store? You sound like a caring person who wants to give of herself and this environment might give you that opportunity for interaction and to be of service.
JanetYou sound very kind and caring.
Keep busy, take walks, puzzles, hike, learn a hobby, cook elaborate meals with the ingredients you already have, start using and fixing all the things you own that need to get finished.Best of luck!
