Lately I’ve had a bunch of medical expenses for me, a single mom and cancer survivor. Then my son broke his arm and he had several bills.

I decided to apply for financial aid and my son’s bills are now 100% covered! That’s over $500 saved. I may apply for my bills next (separate hospital) because those are close to $1000.

My point is, don’t be afraid to ask/try/apply for help. I didn’t think I’d get anywhere with it and I was pleasantly surprised and relieved.

That is super great! And even if you get denied, keep trying. Decades ago I had some emergency surgery and owed thousands for it.

I applied to the hospital foundation for help. They denied me because we owned a house.

Next we tried to apply for a refinance on the house; they denied us because we owed too much.

We also applied to our town’s social services for financial help. They denied us because we owned a house.

I took those 2 denials back to the hospital foundation and asked for help again.

2 weeks later, I got a letter in the mail that the hospital foundation 100% covered our thousands of dollars of hospital bill and we no longer owed anything.

So, keep trying even if they deny you.

Such a relief, I’m sure! I’ve been approved several times for 100% financial assistance for medical. I filled out application, supplied copies of bank statements, pay stubs, etc.

It takes a little effort but is definitely worth the trouble.

I believe most hospital groups offer financial assistance…so please apply…you maybe pleasantly surprised.

My husband and I (combined) make over $60 a hour. We know in NY we would never get assistance. And we have outrageous cocgot bills for ours kids.

We’ve been paying on them for years and finally have 2 out of the 3 down to $1600.

We’re fortunate we’re together and both have decent paying jobs, but bc of that we won’t get assistance In state where the cost of living (and taxes) are outrageous.

If you are still under treatment, ask your provider if you might be eligible for a financial grant.
