I’m curious to hear your thoughts on whether there’s a particular day of the week that’s better for making investments, especially in the stock market.
Some investors believe that market behavior varies depending on the day — for example, that prices tend to dip on Mondays or rally on Fridays.
Others argue that long-term performance matters more than timing specific days.
Do you think there’s any advantage to choosing a specific day to invest?
Have you personally noticed any patterns or trends that influence when you buy stocks, ETFs, or other assets? Or do you believe timing the day doesn’t really matter as long as you’re consistent?
I’d love to know what has worked for you, what the data says (if any), and whether day-of-week investing is something to consider — or just a myth.
Thanks for sharing your experience and insights!
KrisaSounds like you get paralyzed by decisions. I’d recommend automating your investments. Have it taken out before you have to decide.
The fund VTSAX that’s popular will allow you to set a date to invest.
The ETF will make you buy it. Either way, pick a day and do it.
Chris30years ago… Rule of thumb time in the market vs timing the market
GloryAnyday when you have money to invest,, if you can do it today or yesterday why wait for tomorrow
CrystalYesterday! Second best day is tomorrow (which in this case I guess would be Monday since markets are closed tomorrow lol)
RickWhen CNBC has an aired episode of Markets in Turmoil.
“CNBC ran a special titled “Markets in Turmoil” — something they have done now more than 100 times in the last dozen years.100% of the time, the stock market finished positive (usually very substantially positive) over the next 12 months.”
BillOk, so you are getting some smart ass answers. It’s not personal, but this is an absurd question.
If there was such a trivial pattern, everyone would do it and then instantly it wouldn’t be a good day to buy.
SarahThe day before today, whenever that was. The next best day is today. In other words, invest whenever you can.
