I’m not sure where else to ask this question and I can’t remember if it was here I read about job offers not working out, where the offer is rescinded after a candidate has accepted the offer, but that’s my concern now especially because if I accept one of the two job offers, and it’s rescinded, then I would essentially be losing TWO chances at a job(!).
I can’t afford to not work right now, far from FI, I know!
Is that an unreasonable fear?
I’m wondering how often that happens and if there’s any signs to watch out for.
TIA
Khangasking for an extension on a decision is a red flag for an employer, so you’ll want to avoid doing that if you have an offer on the table.
that will increase the chance of your offer getting rescinded.
JamieCounter offers very different than the offer presented and asking for an extended period of time to think about it (a single business day is usually fine) are the most common scenarios for an offer to be rescinded.
Or not passing a background check.
JayThere is nothing you can do about a job rescinding an offer. Just accept the job you want and go from there. There are some things in this world we are powerless over.
Stressing over something you have no control over is a tough spot to be in.
You may accept and the job works out and that’s the end of the story and I hope that is what happens for you.
Good luck!
SuziI received a full time job offer after working as a contractor for the company for 3 months as a trial. The offer was recinded after I countered their offer, but it was not the company.
It was the person I was going to work with.
I was devastated but went on to find a much better career path and in a way bigger company a few months later.
Pick the company that fits you best and don’t worry, because it will work out better in the end.
AuraAnother way to think about it might be to consider that if you don’t accept either offer you won’t have a job.
I’m sure you’ve done your due diligence and researched both companies to see which has better reviews.
