My credit union always offers me;
“good news! Your $2,000 no-cost Accidental Death & Dismemberment coverage, courtesy of (Credit Union)”Should I sign up or is the offer a trojan horse.
ScottIt’s a lead in for you to meet with an “advisor” who will try to sell you a whole life(or some other name) policy.
It’s like what I tell people about timeshare presentations;
If you can say no, enjoy the free stuff!StacyI heard about a guy who was too old to qualify for life insurance but wanted to leave his wife something so he opened a ton of bank accounts and signed up for the free small insurance coverage with each of them.
KristinaI’ve always accepted these small policies and stowed the paper about it in my filing cabinet.
Typically you just fill out a form. Accept the free insurance and don’t select any of the additional coverage that comes with a cost.
I’ve never had anyone call me back trying to sell me on the added coverages.
ElleI think they see it as a foot in the door to sell you more, but as long as you can say no why not take the free coverage?
JohnIt’s only spam if you have no pre-existing business relationship with you. Once you sign up, it’s no longer spam — so they can spam you to their heart’s content!
To me, it’s just too much PITA for that marginal insurance.
CrystalYes. I was skeptical at first too but it’s really free life insurance.
MattIs $2,000 going to be helpful to your family if you’re dead or dismembered?
I’m not sure how that low amount of coverage is “good news”
MelodyYes.
Sign up for it.You aren’t obligated to buy anything else
AaronNot worth the hassle IMO. This isn’t going to materially help your family in the unlikely event that you die accidentally.
BeckyWe take the free coverage. They send an offer like monthly trying to sell more but I just toss those
