Debating whether to move 30k from 401k (old employer) to Edward jones for managing? Or roll it to another new 401k at e-trade?

I’m considering moving $30,000 from an old 401(k) to either Edward Jones or E*TRADE. Which option would you recommend, and why?

I’m looking for insights on fees, services, and potential growth opportunities.

Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

I’m relatively new to this, but can someone explain the rationale of actively-managed accounts when most pros can’t even beat the S&P?

It seems like it’s just a likelihood of lower returns at more cost.

It’s $30k, move it to E*Trade. Do you think EJ is going to magically turn it into $1M? It’s an emergency fund.

There’s absolutely no need for someone else to manage your money, especially if it’s coming from 401(k).

I’d look at the cost to you on keeping it where it is, if you like the funds it’s in.

If you do want to move it and your brokerage has similar funds, just do that. You’ll save yourself tens of thousands of dollars overtime, if not more than $100,000.

Has EJ beaten historical S&P 500? Or even since 2020? DIY with VTI or VOO

Not EJ…roll to new 401k or just open your own IRA at low cost brokerage (Vanguard, Schwab, etc.)

EJ has ridiculous fees. Roll the funds to vanguard or Schwab or one of the other large investment firms where you can self manage with super low fees.

Definitely not EJ unless u want to pay a bunch of unnecessary fees. Why not roll it to an ira where u have cheapest funds, and most choices over ur investments

I would roll it out of the 401K, Jones is ok, or manage it yourself, or find a local advisor.

I’m not the biggest Jones fan but they can do the job.

Weigh the pro and cons of both. If you value professional investment advice, Edward Jones might be a better fit.

However, if you’re comfortable managing your investments yourself, E-Trade could be a more cost-effective option.

                        Also consider the fees too
