Do you guys think inflation in grocery prices is imminent? I wonder if I’m being crazy for wanting to buy everything ahead of time.
I have a deep freezer.
With rising concerns about inflation, Have you noticed any significant increases in food prices lately?
Do you think it’s wise to stock up on essentials now, or is it better to wait?
Share your thoughts and experiences!
BethanyYes, of course. Consider starting a garden if you have space.
JonathanI’ve been a prepper before prepping was cool so I’m always prepared. I label everything with the date purchased and rotate as needed.
I purchase locally raised beef, pork and chicken in bulk for the entire year.
I also hunt so I usually have venison, duck, pheasant, ect on hand. I also benefit from my parents vegetable garden.
I just checked and other than the purchases I stated above last year I only spent $1200 on groceries.
SteveWhere have you been the last 4 years? Wow, the 2 avocados I buy each month will skyrocket from $0.79 to $0.99 each.
Time to sell everything and move to Canada! (Oh wait, avocados cost $1.50 there.)
HunterIf saving $1 on peanut butter is going to shape your financial outlook, you need Dave Ramsey
EllenWe live in the hinterlands and habitually keep a nice stock of non-perishables and frozen goods for convenience.
We buy a whole cow from a farmer. We vacuum pack supplies & freeze all sorts of food. We have a generator for power outages.
If you are worried about food scarcity or rising prices, by all means stock up. A 7.5 cubic foot chest freezer holds almost all of an 850# beef on the hoof, and it doesn’t take up much room.
If you have access to fresh (unwashed) eggs you can water glass them and they’ll last a long while.
Frozen food that was vacuum sealed lasts a lot longer than you’d expect.
There are plenty of online resources to get you started.
MikeIt’s not going back down unless some major depression stuff happens or people refuse to buy.. Guys we are our own worst enemy, everyone buying stuff we know is over priced is the issue.
People out here complaining about eggs.. my 12 chickens are laying eggs like crazy! I have no idea what egg prices are.
Be as self sufficient as you can.
MikeNo, I don’t think so. Make adjustments in your selection with changes in prices.
MindiInflation is a fact of life. Most everything goes up every year.
PatriciaNo. A president who filed for bankruptcy 6 times will not affect food prices. A man who is a rapist respects and values women and all life. Things are totally fine and normal.
Nothing to worry about here. Marshal law and WW3 are not coming and coming fast.
He is a safe and stable leader. Do not do anything to prepare for what is coming.
AdrianYes, 100% for sure but not so much inflation but the tariffs that is going into effect. We buy a lot of food from Mexico, Canada, Europe and China.
DeborahI love my freezer. I grow a few things in the garden for exercise. If it yields then even better.
I frequent farmers markets for fruits and veggies all spring/summer.
I use frozen in winter so I stock up during summer when they are on sale.I organize my freezer.
Veggies right
Meats leftSmall items in bags grouped so I can just pull up the bag and not go diving.
It makes having a freezer more efficient and I don’t have freezer burn from stuff getting lost.
KateWe shop almost exclusively at Costco and just got back from being away for two weeks.
I’m just coming home from Costco and I swear half of the very item we typically purchase was priced higher than I remember.
Join some grocery savings programs like Flashfoods and when you see things posted for half off and are able to preserve them, swoop in and grab them all.
We have a deep freezer half full with salmon, chicken, and other proteins that were purchased for half off through that program.
The other freezer and a half is fully stocked with proteins from local farms that we purchase in bulk once a year.
Having access to local farms is invaluable as their prices don’t fluctuate quite as much as supermarkets and grocery stores.
EricYes. We get a large amount of our fertilizer from Canada. That alone is going to increase prices.
LeafyYes. Learn how to eat simply and to cook from scratch with what’s on sale.
TolgaInflation is 3-4%. Bank interest is also the same. Keep that money in the bank (instead of the freezer) and buy food when you need it.
One you eat fresh, two your food is not spoiled.
TaylorYeah, idk how people spend so much on food lol… I shop the deals and plan my meals that way.
I spend less than $200 a month on food for a three person household
LisaThat last few years groceries have gone up over 23%, I would continue use the same method you have been using.
ShuraIt is indeed the case. The increase in tariffs will cause inflation to accelerate again, which is very bad for us!
