Pendant light fitting. Look at fuse box & find the fuse for those lights. Should be marked upstairs or downstairs lighting. Switch off relevant fuse & check other lights on same circuit are also off. That makes it safe. Unscrew the top white bit & you will find 2 wires. Use small headed screwdriver to release the wires. Thread wire through new white fitting.

Offer up new connectors. Doesn’t matter which way wires go into fitting. Tighten up screws & then screw back top fitting. Flick fuse back on & check all ok.

If you need to ask what to do then I would strongly advise you not to attempt to try and replace it. If you contact a local electrician, send him/her the picture you have, they can source a like for like replacement. Should cost no more than a call out fee and the part if they’re reasonable and fair.

Any DIY store. Stop using that until it is repaired. When you come to replace it, switch the power off to the home first. While others will say you only need to turn off X circuit, you have no idea of what you are doing or looking at (that’s a statement not insult), and so it is easier to guarantee a safer option.

Buy a new pendant fitting, replace the flex and bayonet, 2 minutes.
