Is it better to file taxes separately or jointly if I have a small business? Yes I know you’re not accountants, but I’m recently divorced and my ex is pressuring me to file jointly so he gets a bigger refund.
If it benefits me too I don’t really have a problem with it.
Any thoughts would be great!
TIA!
BrianIf you are divorced, file separately. There is no reason to mix fiancés anymore. Even if your return would be a little higher, it’s worth it to draw the line now.
You can easily use the excuse of the divorce to keep them separate.
MeganIf your divorce was complete or before Dec 31 you cannot file jointly. Otherwise it’s tax fraud.
KendyYou said you recently divorced. So, you can’t file Mfj. Your options are single or head of household if you have a child.
AnniIf you’re divorced I think you have to file separately? If you had an attorney for the divorce I would ask them.
Francesslet me get this straight. HE wants you to do this to get him a bigger refund and not you? when you get done laughing at him tell him no.
