A store in town recently started offering free grocery pickup. We don’t usually use it because I enjoy grocery shopping and am picky about produce, but I decided to give it a try.

With a new baby, grocery shopping can be time-consuming, and honestly, I’ve been feeling a bit too lazy to do it lately.

I tested the pickup service at two stores in town and was pleasantly surprised—the produce was excellent!

The only downside was that I miscalculated some quantities due to the pound-to-kilogram conversion (blame the sleep deprivation!), so I ended up spending more than planned. But it’s fine—the food won’t go to waste.

If I can avoid those little mistakes, this service could actually save me both time and money.

Every time I step into the store, I always end up buying extra things! I’m excited to try this service again next time we need groceries.

I’ll be sure to place my order when I’m feeling energetic and alert

I love pick up but still want to pick my own produce.

I have been doing it off and on since Covid and then last year I had my first knee replacement. Two months ago I had my second one.

Delivery of groceries and other things have been wonderful.

I have ventured out to the store and can make it like half way around before I am done.

I love our one store but not the other for delivery. A funny – my sister ordered what she thought was 2.5 pounds of bananas.

She got 25 bananas. LOL so be careful.

Kroger offers a $20 off $75 purchase for first time pick-up or delivery orders and I plan to utilize that my next trip.

I can still use my paper coupons (that they send me) and accept or reject substitutions on the spot.

I’ve done it a few times, but the prices were more per item at Aldi not sure about other stores, it’s definitely amazing but I felt like I have the time and my kids are older now so I should just go inside and save that money

It’s a good idea to save on money and time, I personally enjoy going ‘shopping’ but have no small people.

I fought the food pickup for so long but finally gave in and absolutely love it.

I had five kids when I finally broke and tried it because my friend kept talking about it.

Different stores and different pickers are different but almost always ive loved it and it seems like they pick the best produce before it even goes out to the shelf.

It’s saved me so much time and has had a positive impact on my meal planning. It’s been glorious

I’ve been using it since the pandemic made it widely available, and it is a godsend for me. I’m disabled although I still can drive, and it’s helping me in my efforts to stay independent.

I also think it cuts way down on impulse purchases.

I used to shop people’s curbside orders at my job. if the shoppers can be trusted it can be a great tool.

I had a lot of customers say it kept them from impulse shopping, because it’s impossible to walk around the store grabbing whatever looks good, and it shows a running total as you go.

our service was popular with parents especially with multiple small children.

my recommendation is to use all of the features that communicate to shoppers what you want. you should always be able to specify what kind of things are acceptable if they don’t have the exact thing you want for example.

also, quality check orders yourself, as soon as you can, and call the store right away if there’s an issue.

if you are prompt and polite then you may find the store is happy to make adjustments, refund you for unacceptable items, etc.

I always told customers there’s nothing wrong with being “picky” but I want to know what it is you’re picky about before I start shopping.

I go by Ingle’s on Wednesday to get their sales flier and then place a pick up order based on what I need and what’s on sale.

The shoppers will even check the best by dates and out of the 3 times I’ve ordered, I’ve had no complaints at all! During March they had free pick up and 8.00 off a 75.00 order.

                        Great deal!

I live in a growing beach town so the summers get crazy in the grocery stores here. I started using the pickup service last summer and was surprised at the actual savings.

I always end up picking up stuff I don’t plan on buying if I go inside so that curbs that problem.

My produce has been fine except bananas a couple of times.

Now I add a note on that item and tell them the size and ripeness I like.

I do this all the time and feel it is a huge money savings. For one thing, I come and go and put things in my online ‘cart’ as I think of them.

Then hubby and I review the cart before I place the order to make sure everyone gets what they want.

Often, I’m deleting things I *thought* I wanted two days ago but now I’m like “Nah.. on second thought I don’t really need that”.

Also, no more impulse shopping from my having to walk past their attractive displays of unnecessary items at the end of every aisle and in the aisleways.

Shopping in the store is also kind of chaotic-there are crowds and business going on, I’m trying to juggle my cart, my purse, my shopping list, a fistful of paper coupons, my cell phone with the store weekly ad and my electronic coupons- It’s just too much.

In contrast I now can sit at my desk in a leisurely manner and more closely analyze cost per ounce or unit to choose between comparable products.

I can pop over to the next tab on my computer and check the price of that item at one of the other two stores I frequent and really get the best deal.

I can confirm I’ve selected the correct product size to use the coupon and compare the item with coupon to the store brand item without a coupon that is sometimes a better bargain.

I’m shopping at a more leisurely pace in a relaxed environment and I make better choices.

Often in the checkout line chaos I would forget to hand the cashier my paper coupons, for example. While you still have to hand them the paper coupons, it’s about all you have to do, hand them the coupons and pop the trunk open.

It’s also easier to stay on a budget for me. When I finish my online order I know the total and can pare down a few things from there, scroll over it twice if I need to and delete off a few things to get below my limit.

I use Wal-Mart pickup almost exclusively weekly, with a every two week trip to Aldis next door for some things that they have that I like. . If I get crappy produce, dented cans, short dated items, cracked eggs, crushed boxes, etc.from Walmart, I file on line for a refund and get a refund online..

Don’ t send crappy stuff to me that you (the picker) would not buy yourself.

I did grocery delivery last year after surgery and never stopped. I do two a paycheck one thru sams club and one with Walmart.

Groceries is enough to cover the minimum $ for free shipping for us.

It’s nice when it works but they still use 3rd party delivery so it can be difficult sometimes but they’ve never refused a return for an un-delivered item.

Being home bound at the moment it is a lifesaver for me! The only advice I can give, from experience, is do your shopping midweek.

I find that if I do it on a Sunday the store is out of a lot of things and I have to have a lot of communication with the shopper to choose substitutes.

The savings I get from having my Aldi order delivered is significant. I tip yes.

But the fact that the broccoli is here and the bananas and avocado are always coming in, we are eating better!

We are dealing with orthopedic surgery recovery and wow, having the delivery is just a body and time saver! Can’t believe I waited so long

Ordering on-line and picking up saves my family money. I was concerned about how produce picked for our order would be.

                                      It has been great.

I like it for my staple items. But like to pick my produce and veggies.
