would u return an item after u see a price drop on Amazon for 30cents less?
Why or why not? Do small price differences influence your purchasing decisions, or do you only consider larger savings?
Some might say it’s not worth the time or effort, while others might argue every penny counts—especially if it’s a quick refund/rebuy process. What would you do?
Vote and share your reasoning:
Yes – Savings add up, and Amazon’s return policy makes it easy.No – $0.30 isn’t worth the hassle.
Curious to hear your thoughts! Have you ever done this for small price differences?
JessNo. The vaaaaassssst majority of Amazon returns go to landfill. If it was a good enough price that I did my research and decided to buy the thing, it’s a good enough price for me to hold onto it and move forward with life.
AnnetteThis is so much a personal choice and has far to many variables. I often say pennies make millions but it would depend on how much hassle and time is involved.
If you want to do it, don’t let anyone talk you put of it.
JudeAmazon tracks how often each person returns items and will cut off people from making returns.
So be careful how you use returns.
LisaI’m pretty frugal and can walk to UPS to return, but no. Remember that even if it saves you .30, it is costing the vendor a LOT more than that in shipping back and forth (it’s a big reason I don’t offer returns on ebay unless it’s not as described or doesn’t arrive).
ZayneNo, my time has value, and the steps of making a return cost more than $0.30 I’d consider it at like $5 difference, but that’s only worth it if the return process takes less than half an hour AND the inconvenience of being without the item doesn’t impact my life.
ChelseaSeriously? Absolutely not. There’s a line between frugal and cheap.
That’s crossing it.
KimberlyAbsolutely not! Not enough hours in the day to be worrying about pennies!!
MollyNot for that small amount. It will cost me way more in gas to get to the store to return.
I may reach out to Amazon customer service though and nicely ask if they will refund the difference.
They will likely say no, but worth asking.
ChristopherAnd when the brick & mortar stores are gone and the USPS is shut down your savings and competition will be gone.
KacieNo, not worth my time. Not worth the extra use on the environment.
Behavior like this long term would just make prices go up on everyone using Amazon. Etc.
AprilMany Amazon returns just get dumped in landfills instead of processed.
I would not do this, especially for 0.30…
ArianneMy time is worth more than that to me, but you do you because 30 cents here and 30 cents there can add up if you’re not careful.
SheilaI keep track of prices of things I use on a regular basis. Today, I was able to buy a supplement for $2.60 CAN less at a local drugstore than what it was on Amazon.
It was cheaper at Walmart, but that’s 30 minutes away on the highway.
It pays to know your prices!
AmandaNo. I value my time more than that, I’m not driving to the store to drop off my Amazon return and then Reordering it and waiting just to save 30 cents.
KimberlyMaybe if I was still in the parking lot…….but a few days later it’s not worth the gas to drive back to the store to return.
Oh, I was thinking it was a purchase from another store that you wanted to price match.
To return something to amazon and buy another on another on amazon cheaper, is definitely not worth the effort.
LiaPersonally, I don’t think it’s cost-effective for only $.30 when you factor in travel, and the time you’d spend on the phone to speak with someone. Some stores will adjust the price if it is within two weeks.
I had bought a bistro set from Walmart and and found it it be on sale within the 14 day window.
I called and they adjusted it to the sale price. I saved almost $34.
