travelling hacks with food for a family with toddlers…hoping not to buy expensive food outside so we can just spend money on travel than food.
pls help with your best bet for food containers, best nutritious food i can prep for my family.

MeganWe pack a cooler of food for travel. I premake things Iike taco meat, BBQ chicken, chicken salad, pasta salad, granola, breakfast sandwiches and then pack fresh fruits and veg.
We have those little “hot dog trays” and paper towels in our van to easily eat meals on the go.
I’ll stop at grocery stores to get rotisserie chicken, bread, lunch meat, yogurt as needed.
We try to just go out 1 meal a day (sometimes not at all). We will do yogurt, granola, fruit, overnight oats, hard boiled eggs for breakfast.
For lunch we will do sandwiches / wraps/ salads, fruit, veg or charcuterie style plates.
Dinner we will grab a rotisserie chicken and salad or steamable veggies, or heat up taco meat or BBQ chicken and use those for a meal.
We get things like yoggis, olives, meat sticks, veggie sticks, raisins, that’s it bars, solely fruit snacks, dates with almond butter for easy relatively non messy snacks.
LucindaWe used a plug in refrigerator that my mother-in-law gave us. We packed yogurt, cheese, lunch meat, cereal, milk, etc.
We also brought a hot pot and sandwich maker. Also brought along cooking utensils.
We drove mostly, and usually stayed somewhere with a full kitchen when we flew.
Saved so much money and we ate healthier, more familiar food.
MicheleYes, grocery store and a back pack cooler or something that attaches to stroller. Eat what you usually eat.
Bring a pairing knife and a tiny cutting board . Fresh fruit veggies and maybe a rice cooker to do noodles and rice, pre cooked meats like rotisserie chickens and canned tuna.
Lunch meats and all beverages. One big cooler for car and tiny one for day trips.
If you like drink crystals, coffee to make cold brew and reusable drink containers
RebeccaPeanut butter and crackers. Boiled eggs. Carrots and celery. Deli meat. Cherry tomatoes.
Juice powder.
NancyMy grandson loves pouch yogurt and fruits, individual
shelf stable milk, juice boxes, fig bars, peanut butter and cheese crackers, salami or pepperoni, and everything his mother thinks he won’t like yet that she is eating.Not much really needs refrigerated so a cooler should be enough.
LisaWe like homemade chicken fingers for traveling. I’ll cook up 3-4 pounds and put them in a Ziploc bag in the cooler.
MaureenBuy small containers of applesauce, fruit, yogurt, cheese sticks, canned fruit with pull off lid and cottage cheese, cereal bars, pretzels, popcorn,
KimSandwiches, a variety, apple slices w peanut butter dip, cheese strips, carrots, cucumbers, celery, cauliflower, broccoli and baby tomatoes with hummus dip.
Pickles, pretzels and chips.
