I’ve been given several cans of beef in the white can. If you have ever used any of this beef, tell me what is the best way to use it?

I think the meat probably came in donation boxes.

Not sure about that because other people gave it to me.

Think “roast beef” without the vegetables. … Now you’re ready to make some meals.

This is “commodity” food. A surplus government product given to people in need. As a kid (55 years ago) I loved this (we ate beans 5 days a week).

BTW; my favorite meal today is “beans with the fixings”. It’s what I ask for on special meals – not ribeye…

I’ve never tried but I bet a stroganoff would be wonderful with that shredded beef

We grew up poor also. My Mother and Grandmother always drained and rinsed it. Then used it in every dish that took bee.

If it’s drained and rinsed and seasoned and added with other stuff it is really really good.

                  Spanish rice
                  Hash with potatoes and onions
                  Tacos
                  Burritos
                  Spaghetti

Made gravy with it served with noodles or rice.
                  Meat spread for sandwiches
                  Sloppy Joe’s
                  Pot pie with veggies

The pork they added sage and other seasonings and made breakfast gravy.

It was much appreciated, tasted wonderful and it was never wasted.

When I have the can beef I drain the can n rinse off the fat that’s stuck to the meat.

Then I brown it in a pan n add bbq sauce and we have bbq beef on buns

People who visit food pantries then feed it to their dogs should not be using the pantry.

I used that canned beef in the past, and was happy to have it!

It is good for vegetable soup, spaghetti sauce, tacos, beef and gravy…in fact ANYTHING that uses ground beef as a base.

If it is too fat, heat it, then drain the fat!

I have used it for tacos—after draining liquid and removing the fat.

I mix the juice with cooked rice and canned carrots or green beans for pet food.

I also use the drained meat in chili and soups.

Beef stew or in a vegetable soup even make a thinner gravy add the meat warm and serve over potatoes rice or toast..
