Anyone bought a used vehicle that used to be owned by a rental company? Was it cheaper? What was your experience?
Have you ever bought a used rental car? If so, was it noticeably cheaper than similar non-rental used cars?
How was your experience with reliability, maintenance, and overall value? Would you recommend buying a former rental vehicle?

HelenWe bought an amazing Pontiac Gran Prix from Hertz; it’s been so long ago I’ve forgotten what the purchase price was.
The savings were significant; mileage was awesome; I would have kept it until we wore it out but my husband hated it; said it dry as though he had to lie on the ground and roll in—gross exaggeration.
My parents and one sister had purchased several vehicles from Hertz before we bought the Pontiac; they were all pleased with price and performance.
I know not everyone has had a good experience but I also know people who have bought new vehicles and have less than good experiences.
JacquelineI have in the past and no issues. I guess it depends on where you buy it.
I got mine from a reputable car lot and they probably went over it.
SabrinaWe bought a Highlander from Hertz and saved about $5,000 on it. It had about 24K miles on it, so it is still under warranty until 36K miles.
It was a great decision for us! We would definitely do it again if/when we needed to.
ElizabethI bought a fleet car from Enterprise, checked CarFax first, and I am happy with it. They are always tuned, oil change, etc.
and kept in good running condition.
Have had it for 6 years with no problems.
SusanMany years ago we bought a used car from Enterprise it was a very enjoyable and trustworthy process. If we were in the market for vehicles priced at that price point we would do it again without hesitation.
They said if we found something else we wanted to test drive that was for sale and not on the lot we were at they would bring it to us.
We purchased a Dodge Durango from them. An Indiana purchase.
We no longer buy vehicles at that price point we just choose to drive older vehicles and pay cash no financing.
We spend our money on our home for example that holds value, it’s just a choice we made awhile ago.
Our experience was we got a great reliable vehicle from them.
LeonaOh! Yes! My mom bought a Chrysler Seabring convertible years ago from Enterprise. It lasted 13 years! She loved that car!
It only had like 33K miles on it when she got it for close to $13,000 less than what a new one costs.
That car was awesome!
AndreaI’ve seen the way people drive rentals & personally would not buy one for myself. There are plenty of private party cars for sale, you just need to look.
Government repo auctions are a better bet than a rental.
KathyPurchased one that was a Enerprize car in 2011. I’m still driving it.
StaceyDo. Not. Do. This. Just my opinion but I got a rotten car from that. Only had 11000 on it but belt blew out before the suggested time to replace.
(27000 miles to go) And yes, I had someone that was a mechanic look at it before purchase.
MollyI bought one that had been a rental car for 6 months. Had some hail damage and 14k miles. Got $10k off the sticker price.
I’m still driving it at 135,000 miles and have had to repair only a few minor things (CV boot, oil leak).
I would do it again.
