I can’t believe I just spend $0 on a virtual doctors appointment! It’s a free trial but at $9 a month you can’t beat that price!!! It’s Amazon One medical.

I got symptoms of a uti ealier today and didn’t want to suffer until Monday to get treatment.

I live in a small town without urgent cares open on the weekend. Amazon one prescribed me medication.

I thought that it would cost money on top of the monthly fee to see somebody but no, it was included.! There is nothing better!!

I can see where it would be helpful for something simple. What happens if you need a catscan or have a broken leg?

Do you have to wait to have the medication shipped to you? Just curious.

Thanks for sharing. We have a high deductible plan and only well visits are covered, even via telehealth, so this is a great alternative!

Always skeptical about tele whatever. Rather portal my doc and go in to see someone local in person.

This is how lots of people in Canada see a Dr. We also don’t pay anything for the appointment.

In my experience doc don’t do tests for a UTI.

Pharmacist can also Prescribe some meds for certain conditions in BC.

We use a similar service called Dr. on demand – it’s an app where you can see a doctor usually within 10 minutes, and it is fully covered under my insurance so zero cost!

We’ve been so happy with it – especially for things like pink eye, it’s so much easier than trying to take a small child to the doctor.

I wouldn’t want a virtual appt for a uti unless they are also ordering labs to be done locally so it can be cultured to determine which meds would be effective for the specific bacteria.

The problem with this for a uti is there’s no urine culture done. So, if this antibiotic he prescribed doesn’t work a culture will be destroyed from the current meds.

So, a test wasn’t required? I don’t have a regular doctor so I have to go to urgent care when anything is wrong.

I will definitely be looking into this!

                        Thanks

Just a little Public Service Announcement: UTIs are very dangerous especially for older persons because they do not exhibit regular symptoms. Their top symptom is mental confusion.

It’s been known to happen that someone gets diagnosed with dementia only to find out they just have a UTI.

And UTIs often go undetected in people with dementia because changes in their mental confusion due to UTI is difficult to differentiate from their dementia.

So please, if you are caring for someone who is older be mindful of this. Keep hydrated, maintain proper hygiene down there and get treatment as soon as possible.

UTIs are one of the leading causes of death in older people. UTIs can very quickly turn into sepsis so take care everyone.

Now back to your regular programming.

I noticed it’s $9 per month with Prime Membership. Still a good value with unlimited follow-ups for 14 days but there are limitations to be aware of and upselling

I use everything! I shop discount grocery stores and Amish stores. I have an unconventional garden.

Meaning I use feed tubs as my pots.

I do have some things in my garden not in pots like rhubarb.

I used it last year when I suspected I had covid. There were no doctors available for a video visit. I had to use a chat but it also did not have anyone immediately available.

It took 3 days to get a prescription and another 3-4 days to get my medication.

It was frustrating but I was still grateful that I got what I needed without spending hundreds to thousands of dollars.

Our healthcare system is seriously broken.

I’m glad to hear you had a good experience

What they are allowed to diagnose is likely limited and it would make sense to know those limitations.
