I’m curious to know if making bread at home is significantly more cost-effective compared to buying it from the store. When considering the cost of ingredients like flour, yeast, and any additional items, as well as the time and effort involved, do the savings really add up?
Also, do factors like electricity usage for baking or specialized equipment affect the overall cost advantage?
I’d love to hear from others who have experience baking their own bread. Do you think it’s worth the investment in terms of both money and time?
Please share your insights, tips, or any comparisons you’ve made between the cost of homemade vs. store-bought bread.
CraigandYes, also if you really look up the ingredients they have found the material used to make yoga mats in store bought breads
DarylI used to make yeast bread. Made a lot of dog bread. Wasted a lot of money
RickI can make a two pound loaf for a dollar. It tastes better than store bought but requires planning and doesn’t have the preservatives of store bread.
CameronNot only cheaper there’s only 3 ingredients instead of 16
RoxanneMine costs around 75 cents a loaf. It has 5 ingredients and my flour is purchased in 50 pound bags
BethanyIt depends on where you live and the cost/time it takes you to make bread. I can get a loaf of bread for 1.98 which is probably cheaper than the ingrediants/time it takes me to make it, but I can also buy a loaf for almost 9 dollars (higher quality).
I just love making homemade bread when I have the time.
LauraThe ingredients are a lot healthier with
not all them preservatives and who can put a price on thatJodiProbably not the cheapest store brand. But deffentially the better brands that are comparable in quality.
And it heats the kitchen while baking, which is a plus.

DonnaThese days unless you want to buy a very low quality unhealthy bread, yes, it’s cheaper.
