Boneless skinless chicken breasts. I buy them on sale and freeze them one thing I noticed is some stores trim them leaving little waste.

Other stores leave enough fat to equal half a breast.

Not all bargains are a bargain

Our local Fareway actually sells chicken breasts, and, for a higher price, “trimmed” chicken breasts.

I tend to buy boneless skinless chicken thighs more often than chicken breasts. I think they taste better…

I noticed a few months ago that the absorbent pad at the bottom of the packages of chicken breast and chicken thighs suddenly seemed to weigh around 3oz when I go to throw the empty container away.

I have the feeling they are adding a little water to the package to reduce the weight of the chicken we are actually getting.

Eta: Don’t even get me started on the strawberries on the top of the package vs the bottom of the package.

I am convinced they put older ones on the bottom and new ones on the top.

That’s right. Sometimes Dollar Tree isn’t a bargain either if you compare ounce for ounce.

Has any one noticed that boneless / skinless chicken you find bones in your chicken?

I buy chicken thighs w bone & skin & can usually find it pretty cheap at Walmart or Kroger. Usually, $1.29 lb or less.

I remove the skin to air fryer it (crispy) & after removing the fat I use it for homemade soups that I can freeze for later.

I stopped buying from supermarket for that reason. In the long run cheaper to buy from butcher.

                    Better tasting too

I notice the same thing with Beef. The steaks that end up in reduced meat bins are sooo thick in excess fat.. they don’t even sell well there.

I treasure the fat. It’s great for cooking. We need fat in our diet in order to utilize fat-soluble vitamins.

                        Check it out
