Check your EOB’s! In December, my husband had some dental work done. They charged him $580 on the date of service.

We just got the explanation of benefits in the mail and his responsibility was $412.

I’ll be contacting the dentist office to refund the difference.

If they are filing a claim, I tell them I will pay after I see what is left over from the insurance and then I follow through with that

We have to do this with our kids’ dentist and so far Delta has been really prompt about it.

But the cost of dental work, OH MY GOSH.

I just had this happen with a dental bill. $218 discrepancy of course I was the one Who overpaid. They said they had not billed something.

Currently I have that as a credit.

            We’ll see what happens.

that s a given. I always check my eob s. I have secondary insurance. ended up with a bill that wasnt sent to my secondary.

I’ll need to pay the bill anyway because of the new year deductibles but I want the right hand to know what the left hand is doing.

I told the doctors office ill pay it after I get the rejection from the secondary…

Dentist can set their fees. Unless under contract that item called “usual and customary fee “does not apply. The fee can not be dictated by insurance unless a contractual dentist.

I worked 38 years in a dental office.

And also did all the claims billings and patient billings.

We usually charged below the Usual fee for this area. But patient is responsible

That happened to me too and the dentist refunded the amount I paid that the insurance covered.

My dentist has a higher charge than what my dental insurance covers. The difference is not refundable. But my dentist is non participating.

A lot of times it is an estimate of what you owe. You should have a credit at the dentist.

Your insurance company will tell them what they can charge you. If they won’t refund your money, call your insurance company and tell them…they should intervene

I will only give a fraction of the cost because they always estimate to high.

It’s no big deal. when they want me to pay ahead of time for say a crown or whatever sometimes they charge me more than what the insurance is, but they give me a prompt refund or credit.

sometimes they’ve undercharged me and I owe them money. It’s no big deal.

it is just kind of estimate at the time. I have already had it where it’s a small amount is the difference that I owe them and they’ll just write it off.

If they owe me money, I have never had to ask him for it.

They automatically asked me if I want a refund or a credit.

Is your dentist out of network for your insurance company?
