With the ongoing trade war and the uncertainty around how long it might last, I’m wondering if it’s smarter to buy a new laptop sooner rather than later.
I’m concerned that prices might go up or availability might be affected if things escalate.
I’ve been planning to upgrade my laptop, but I’m not sure if I should wait for better deals later in the year (like during holiday sales), or just make the purchase now to avoid any potential price hikes or shortages.
Have any of you factored this kind of situation into your buying decisions? Do you think it’s worth rushing a tech purchase just in case things get worse? Or are the potential impacts overblown?
I’d appreciate any thoughts or advice based on your experience or what you’ve been reading about this situation.
Thanks in advance!

All laptops will see some pretty steep inflation.
RebeccaI am literally in the same boat! I just said I should probably get a new computer soon rather than later, mine is on life support
DennyCheck prices. It may be too late. The one I was looking at from Lenovo (China) is drastically more expensive already.
AnneGot all my bigger purchases for the year out of the way in January.
SteveAt my wife’s urging, I bought two laptops last week for my business to make sure I could choose which one was best before the tariffs hit.
She was right!
GonzalesMy 16 year old bought his computer parts in Jan because he knew the tariffs were coming.
