Hi everyone. I’m a 17-year-old facing big problems. Currently, I’m planning to attend a university in Denmark to study mechanical engineering, and there’s a lot going on in my country.

      I live in Hungary.

My only goal is to get my family out of this area that is heading towards recession and bad decisions. I have no idea where to start or what to do, although I’ve been reading financial books.

The healthcare system is in bad condition, and if they don’t get it in another country, their life expectancy will likely decrease.

I’m willing to take risks — even give up university — just to help them get the care they deserve.

My plan was to stay here for a year after finishing high school and learn languages and programming to make some money, but now I feel I need to take action sooner.

Should I give up university, or is there something I can do while attending it?

I’m really looking for advice because I feel lost in this area, and my only intention is to help the people I love.

I deeply thank everyone who can help me.

Try to secure a scholarship in Denmark (or elsewhere in the EU) and leave Hungary asap. The rest will follow.

This is from a Hungarian who left the country decades ago and never returned for the reasons you listed above.

Really admire your mindset; it’s rare to see someone your age thinking this selflessly. Honestly, I don’t think you need to give up university.

Studying mechanical engineering in Denmark could actually be the best long-term path to help your family.

You can still learn programming, freelance, or work part-time while studying.

It won’t be easy, but it’s possible, and it’ll give you a strong foundation to support your loved ones later.

You’ve got the heart and the drive; keep going

None of you have any bit of reading comprehension, apparently. They clearly said they live in Hungary and were planning to go to university in Denmark….

You have socialized healthcare and free college and you’re trying to flee Denmark of all places?

Where do you think it’s better?

You’re 17 take a breath. You also aren’t responsible for your parents. Denmark has a budget surplus and economy that’s the highest since 2011.

There isn’t a recession forecast and likely will continue to be boosted by pharma.

Never pass up a low cost college education.

Not many other countries are in as good of shape looking into the future as Denmark

Definitely go to university asap, don’t waste that year. The sooner you get the degree the faster you can help them.

Make sure you study also computer science and maybe also finance and try to get a job in finance or tech.

Once you step on the university campus start looking for part time jobs and internships asap in well paying fields.

You need to help yourself first to be able to help someone else too.

You can’t help your loved ones before helping yourself first. Don’t run to short-term solutions, think long-term.

Plan what steps you need to take to be in a good place in 10 years and help them then.
