I got a fun “barista fire” job at hobby store. I’m getting min wage for like 8 hours a week. It’s quite perfect for what I wanted.
I signed up for the company Roth 401k with T Rowe Price today. I’m allowed to contribute max 50% of my pay. I don’t think there is any matching.
And I signed up for a couple extra benefits like legal plan and AD&D.
I think by the time my payday comes, I might see $50 every other week!
I’m quite grateful to still be able to contribute to 401k, however small. As I had quit my full time job last year.
GeorgeYour gratitude and positivity are inspiring! It’s wonderful that you’re making the most of this opportunity and prioritizing your future.
BCWhere do you work, if you don’t mind sharing, that you qualify for employee benefits working 8 hrs per week?
I have to work 24 hrs/wk to qualify for benefits at my place of employment.
I’d prefer to work less!
GroundedThat’s pretty similar to what I want to do when I retire. I don’t ever want to fully stop working, but I’d love to work a day or two per week doing something I enjoy without worrying about the money it pays
RussellI’ve never heard of Dungeons and Dragons as an employee incentive before, but I guess it could make sense for a hobby shop.
ShawnSome major retailer’s actually have decent 401ks. It was the only part of the job I didn’t feel totally screwed about.
