In college I made a lot of marconi and catsup. Just made it for lunch. I really like it. What’s a meal you made out of necessity that you now like?
We’ve all had times when we had to cook or eat something out of necessity—maybe because of a tight budget, limited ingredients, or just lack of time.
These meals may have started as something simple, practical, or even a last resort.
But sometimes, over time, they grow on us and become favorites—something we enjoy even when we have more options.
So, what’s that meal?
Maybe it’s a go-to comfort food, a nostalgic dish, or something you’ve even improved and made your own.
Whether it’s instant noodles with a twist, a humble sandwich that hits the spot, or a one-pot dish that always satisfies—I’d love to hear what it is and why you still enjoy it!
DenniseButter noodles, baked potato, a can of beans (any kind but butter beans are my go to), and a can of Campbell’s chicken noodle soup is always in my house.
PatriciaCHEESE AND BREAD! My two favorite ingredients EVER, and combined, they trump all!
I’ll have cheese toast over “real food” any day!
If only the ingredients didn’t increase cholesterol, I’m pretty sure that’s all I’d eat!
PatriciaPeas and pasta. It’s an Italian comfort dish from my childhood that I still make.
My daughter makes it now.
KathleenMacaroni and canned tomatoes with parm and butter.
JanetOne time my dad decided to make American chopsuey. But we didn’t have peppers. Or tomatoe sauce.
So, we ended up with macaroni, hamburger, and onions.
I just made a big bowl the other day. One of my favorites
DebbieEvery once in a while I get a craving for kraft with hotdogs cut up in it. Classic.
