Depending on the rules at your job this may be considered double dipping. My uncle was charged for something similar and had to pay money back.

The practice is called “over employed”. Google it. While not illegal, it can cross ethical boundaries (particularly if you have a non-compete clause).

No one should have to pay any earned income back, but you can risk losing both jobs if either company finds out.

I’ve heard that data annotation is a real thing and it can be done whenever you have time. I’ve never done so I can’t speak to it exactly though.

There’s a lot of people that would love a part time remote, flexible job – myself included – but there’s not a lot of people wanting to employ us

The question was not about if it’s ethical or allowed by existing employer(that’s up to everyone to decide on their own), but around part time remote opportunities, which is something I’m also looking for post full time work, so any input would be appreciated.

If the employer is paying you for the slow time and you work another job during that time you can be fired.

A lot of people in tech tried this and that was the result.

Is your employer paying you for the “slow time”?

You could start a side hustle with the extra time. My husband did this years ago. He worked at a library and blogged in his free time.

Start your own business. This may not bring money immediately, but you will gain more long term.
