Anyone have any tips on replacing a car windshield in a frugal way?
I’m looking for affordable ways to replace a car windshield. What are some budget-friendly options to get it done without compromising safety and quality?
Should I consider DIY kits, mobile repair services, or maybe finding used windshields from salvage yards?
Any tips on where to look, what to avoid, and how to make sure the replacement is reliable would be greatly appreciated.
Please share your experiences, recommendations, or any advice for keeping the cost low while still getting a proper job done.
Thanks!
DianeMy credit card offers a discount for stores like Safelight (which also offers a promo discount code {$40}) and I have used those because the out of pocket cost of replacement was less than my insurance deductible.
Filing a windshield claim is STILL a claim and can result in higher premiums when your insurance policy renews.
HermannYou’d have to DIY to be the most frugal. Depends how handy/mechanical you are
JeannieGo to salvage yard and get windshield for make of car and bring to a body shop to install
ShirleyMy son is a mechanic and replaced his. It isn’t hard. Buy one from a junk yard and have a mechanic do it for you.
SessumWhat state are you in? In Florida it’s automatically 100% covered with your car insurance
DebbieWith Comprehensive on my insurance policy, I replaced mine for the $100 deductible.
The company came to my work & did it in about 30 minutes.
