I’m looking for some opinions on what to do. I have a 2014 jeep Cherokee with 118 thousand miles. I had an issue come up that requires about 2100 dollars of work.
The value of my car is about 8k right now. Should I repair the car and try to get a few more years out of it or look at buying a newer gently used vehicle?
I have money saved to buy another vehicle in cash if that makes a difference.
TIA
Allison11 year old car with 118k miles, you don’t drive tons. If it was me. I’d spend the money and get an easy few more years out of it. BUT.
Be looking for your next vehicle since you have cash. Don’t wait for this one to break again.
If you don’t fix it it won’t be worth $8k. So fix it. Drive it awhile longer while looking for the next one
MindiRepair and keep driving. I only sell when repairs exceed the value of the vehicle and even then only if I’m tired of it and want something else.
ScottI have a 2014 jeep Cherokee with 140k miles no issues. I only say that to suggest if you got it repaired you could probably put another 60000 thousand miles on it
LaurenWhat Are The Worst Years For The Jeep Cherokee?
2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 Jeep CherokeeThe 2014 to 2019 Cherokee, which marked the return of the nameplate (as well as the start of the second generation), were vastly unsuccessful from a reliability standpoint.
