Maybe change the anode rod in the water heater? I think there’s YouTube videos.
SallyAfter doing everything we could think of (that improved water color, taste, & odor a bunch, but still lingering concerns), we went to water specialty store and put in reverse osmosis tank.
Definitely helped alot.
Also water softener & have to change/replace water bladder occasionally.
BettyGet a hand pump on the well and use the well water… have water in house tested in the house….
If you had sulfur water which it sounds like you do not it’s very good for you…….
Maybe have the septic guy come out in case that’s the problem
DaliaI have a bad taste coming from my drinking water. It almost totally goes away if I leave it in a pitcher in the fridge for a couple of days, did you try that?
Laundry still stinks without dryer sheets, but I can’t afford the filter system that would help that.
JanineMy aunt on a farm had sulphur water. She said all of her rural neighbours who had drilled wells had sulphur water but none of the neighbours with dug wells did.
KellyOurs is caused by the rods in the hot water heater we are told.
We can replace the rods and it might help or we need to replace the hot water heater.Our well water is great too.
We have 2 hot water heaters in the house.
Only the upstairs one smells like sulphur when we run the hot water.

MaryCheck u may have mixed septic air pipe connected to your waTer pipe. My hands guy told me about this.
PalomaWe have a whole house water filter and water softener. It was what worked for us.
CorinneWe have high iron content, it smells like sulfur when we get alot of rain.
We installed a water softener and it helped a lot.
JenniferHot water heater rods first. If not that then we actually have REALLY bad sulfur and had to have a system installed.
We did it ourselves but it was still about $4,000.
If it’s not terrible you can use a water softener to do the same thing but only if it’s not really bad.
A temporary solution, temporary, is people shock their well with bleach.
That also can take care of it for a few months at a time.
KarenCould be bacteria in the water heater. It has to be set to certain temperature to keep bacteria from growing.
Your cold water is also affected by this.
SusanDo you have natural gas? It could be a gas leak in your area.
JenniferReading this to my husband… he says if it’s the water heater rods then the hot should stink but running cold water should not.
Might be a way to test the theory of the hot water heater rods needing to be replaced.
PhyllisWe have a filtration system on our well…it’s very old but still effective…0 odor since we went deeper by 30’ and I check toilet reservoir often…no build up of slime that causes the horrible odor

TammyMy relatives have sulfur water, they have a water conditioner and only drink water from the fridge dispenser as it also has a filter.
